As a parent, choosing the best school for your children is the biggest decision you will ever make. Such a decision should be based on your family ethos; your values and the environment that best suits your child.
Many British traditional schools offer environments which essentially have not changed in the past 100 years. When one looks closely at the ethos of such learning environments, we find that they are often formal and adult, rather than child lead, subjecting children to long days and extensive homework on a daily basis.
Childhood should be a time for being carefree and fun, without the need for dreading Sunday evening, because of school the next day. However, in general, children in the UK have very little time for emotional growth, which in turn affects their social integration and general well-being.
According to UNICEF, the UK is currently languishing at the bottom of the league among 21 industrialised nations for child well-being. The report states that under investment and our “dog-eat-dog” society are to blame.
At Bloo House, we share the values of many parents. We want children to be safe, secure, happy and inspired by the world around them.
