Forest School Having the freedom to explore the natural world is a great way for children to learn about the environment, science and nature. As such, the Bloo House curriculum actively encourages and inspires children through positive outdoor experiences.
Forest Schools originated in Europe in the early 20th century as a way of teaching about the natural world. By the 1980s they became part of the Danish early years programme. By participating in engaging, motivating and achievable activities in a woodland environment, each participant has an opportunity to develop intrinsic motivation, including emotional and social skills. In addition, such experiences through the Forest Schools programme can also improve:
* Self regulation * Empathy * Good social communication skills * Independence * A positive mental attitude, self esteem and confidence
What makes a forest school unique is its emphasis on learning outside of the traditional classroom and having the freedom to explore the ever-changing environment.
